Board of Education Goals

2007-2008

 Reviewed and adopted at the September 24, 2007 BOE meeting.

 OBJECTIVE 1

 U.S.D. No. 289 will provide a safe school environment and facility that is conducive to the educational process.

  • support and enhance established discipline policies
  • improve consistency of administering the discipline policy
  • maintain and enhance communications for U.S.D. 289 employees and patrons
  • define and implement a “Code of Conduct” for U.S.D. 289 employees, students, and patrons
  • provide ongoing, meaningful information concerning legal issues to U.S.D. 289 employees
  • maintain, enhance, and support the U.S.D. 289 Crisis Management Plan

OBJECTIVE 2

 U.S.D. No. 289 will maintain and enhance a curriculum that provides students with the necessary knowledge to contribute and succeed in society.

  • achieve the Kansas state adequate yearly progress (AYP) target each year for the elementary, middle and high schools by the year 2010
  • fulfill QPA requirements for full accreditation on a yearly basis
  • provide instructional programs that meet the individual needs of  students
  • provide technology and resources to stay current with the needs of the business community
  • pursues financial opportunities available through grants and public/private sources
  • establish programs within each core curricular area, in conjunction with state assessments and standardized tests, that target non-proficient scoring students

 

OBJECTIVE 3

 U.S.D.. No. 289 will maintain and enhance school facilities and staff that support the educational programs of U.S.D. 289.

  • meet facility needs as enrollment and programs require
  • attract and retain high quality certified and classified staff
  • work with the administration, staff, and the WEA to improve all evaluation instruments and processes
  • develop & maintain a proactive approach to long-range facility planning and improvements
