I. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Board of Education held Monday, September 24th, 2018, at 6:30 PM in the Wellsville Elementary Library. President Beth Watson called the meeting to order.
II. ROLL CALL Board members present Beth Watson, Dawn Whalen, Shane Pruitt, Kevin Jones, Amanda Donovan, Jeremi
Thompson and Todd Wilmarth.

Ill. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA Dawn Whalen moved to adopt the agenda. Jeremi Thompson seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

lV. PUBLIC FORUM Mike Powell running for Kansas State Board of Education District 1 attended to view a board meeting and visit school district.

V. NEW TEACHER RECOGNITION Brian Batchelder, WHS Agriculture; Cassidy Markley, WES Music Teacher; Arial Baird, WES 1st Grade; Tammy New, WES 5th Grade

2. July Regular and Special Board Meeting Minutes – Dawn Whalen moved to accept the consent agenda and pull the Monthly Bills and Financial Reports. Kevin Jones seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

1. Monthly Bills and Financial Report Dawn Whalen moved to accept the monthly bills and
financial reports. Amanda Donovan seconded. The motion carried 7-0.


Vll. ACTION ITEMS

a. SURPLUS ITEMS Dawn Whalen moved to approve the surplus items list as presented, so these items can be sold, recycled, and/or disposed of in an appropriate manner. Kevin Jones seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

b. AUDIT ENGAGEMENT LETTER Dawn Whalen moved to approve the Audit Engagement Letter from Karlin and Long as presented. Todd Wilmarth seconded. Motion carried 6-1. Yay’s – Pruitt, Donovan, Watson, Whalen, Thompson, Wilmarth. Nay’s – Jones.

VII. DISCUSSION ITEMS

a. WELLSVILLE ELEMENTARY BUILDING TOUR – Marcia Munsell provided a facilities tour of the elementary building.

b. IX. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS Josh Snyder, Brad Burkdoll, and Marsha Munsell provided updates in their buildings


X. EXECUTIVE SESSION

a. Personnel Dawn Whalen moved that the board, superintendent, recess into executive session to discuss employee resignations, applicants for certified and classified staff openings, individual classified salaries, and to review an individual employees performance pursuant to non-elected personnel exception under KOMA and that the open meeting shall resume at 8:25pm in the board conference room. Jeremi Thompson seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

b. Personnel Todd Wilmarth moved that the board, superintendent, recess into executive session to discuss employee resignations, applicants for certified and classified staff openings, individual classified salaries, and to review an individual employees performance pursuant to non-elected personnel exception under KOMA and that the open meeting shall resume at 8:55pm in the board conference room. Dawn Whalen seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

c. Personnel Dawn Whalen moved that the board, superintendent, recess into executive session to discuss employee resignations, applicants for certified and classified staff openings, individual classified salaries, and to review an individual employees performance pursuant to non-elected personnel exception under KOMA and that the open meeting shall resume at 9:05pm in the board conference room. Kevin Jones seconded. The motion carried 4-0.


XI. PERSONNEL

a. RESIGNATIONS Shane Pruitt moved to accept the resignation of Josh Atchison as WMS Wrestling Coach and WHS Assistant Wrestling coach. Amanda Donovan seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

b. CONTRACTS TO OFFER Shane Pruitt moved to approve the contracts for, Brianna Kear – 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach; Gage Leckner, WHS Wrestling Assistant Coach; Jeread Stonequist, WMS Wrestling Coach; Dalon Hardgraves at $13 per hour, Technology Specialist. Kevin Jones seconded. The motion carried 7-0.

c. CONTRACTS TO OFFER Shane Pruitt moved it be clarified Sherry Bousman and Susan McCarty raises are based on the 3% that classified salaried employees receive, as they are salaried classified staff. Dawn Whalen seconded. The motion carried 7-0.


XII. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 9:10pm
