I hope that each of you are having a great week. I wanted to provide an update on Senior Graduation 2020. It is incredibly important to us that we honor and celebrate our seniors and their accomplishments. When school buildings were closed and our continual learning plan was implemented, we knew that the traditional graduation ceremony was very likely not going to be possible due to state and/or county COVID-19 restrictions.
Our staff began working with a group of senior students (class officers) and some senior parents to hear ideas and thoughts on how we could recognize and celebrate our students with a non-traditional graduation. Multiple plans were created knowing that parts of them may not be possible due to state or county restrictions. When the Governor announced her reopening plan recently, we began working to get approval for our graduation plans at the county and state level. That has taken more time than originally anticipated and the guidance has changed during this time as well. For the last few days we have been waiting for final approval. We are still waiting on the official decision. What I can tell you is that we will have an event on May 16th at 2pm. I know that it is frustrating to have to wait for more details, but as soon as we get them we will be sending them out. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
