Facilities Planning Committee

Facilities Planning Updates

February 21st, 2020

In the last update, I mentioned that a special board meeting had been scheduled for February 10th to review and approve an RFQ (technical assistance) and to hear an overview of financial information related to facilities planning.

At that meeting, the board heard financial information regarding project funding options from David Arterberry from Stifel (formerly George K Baum).  The documents presented can be viewed here.

The board also approved an RFQ (Request for Qualifications).  Architectural firms' responses to the RFQ are due by February 26th.  At this point, interviews will be held with the firms by a committee.  The committee will include 3 facilities planning committee members, 3 board members, a student, and the superintendent.  The interview committee will then bring a final recommendation to the board for approval. Once approval of an architectural firm takes place and a contract is approved, they will begin work designing options that address the needs outlined by the committee along with estimated costs of the various options.

Once this is complete, the Facilities Planning Committee will reconvene to review the work, options, etc. and continue working toward a final plan/recommendation.  There will also be stages in the process that will allow for community wide sharing of information, question/answer sessions, possibly surveys, etc.

The facilities planning process has been designed to allow all stakeholder groups to have a strong voice throughout the process.  It is essential that the wishes and desires of stakeholders are represented in this plan. We have been very fortunate to have a dedicated group of stakeholders who have worked very hard throughout the processes described above.  If you have questions or would like additional information regarding the Facilities Planning process, please contact me at 785-883-2388.
