The American Legion Post 194 Eagles had a strong showing this summer with 19 players participating across two teams—19U and 17U. Combined, the teams finished the season with an overall record of 11-13-1. The team includes players from Wellsville, Osawatomie, Central Heights, Paola, and West Franklin, and is led by Wellsville High School coaches Evan Cleaveland, Greg VanHorn, and Tanner Shalkoski, along with WHS alumni Jake Richards and Renner Speer. The 19U team also had played for the League Championship last night at KU’s Hoglund Ballpark, where they secured 1st place with a win over Veritas. The 19U Eagles are now headed to the American Legion State Tournament, which will take place July 25–28 in Topeka. Congratulations American Legion Post 194 Eagles!

The Franklin County Health Department will be offering walk-in sports physicals on July 28, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at a discounted rate. Additionally, from 5 PM to 6:30 PM, they will provide free sports physicals!
